KL Rahul becomes the first Indian player in the Indian Premier League (IPL) history to play three key roles for a franchise. KL Rahul, who is captaining the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) for the first time in the IPL, is set to become the first player since the former Australian cricketer Adam Gilchrist to take on the role of a skipper, opener, and as the team's wicket-keeper in the tournament.

Gilchrist, who played six seasons of IPL cricket, represented Deccan Chargers and Kings XI Punjab for three years each.

During his 82 matches in the league, the former Aussie talisman also had taken on the role of a skipper, wicketkeeper, and opener for his side.

After Ravichandran Ashwin's departure ahead of the 13th edition of the IPL, Rahul was named the KXIP skipper.

The 28-year-old has also been playing the wicketkeeper-batsman role ever since his big-money move from Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) a few years back and has developed into one of the finest Indian openers in the business.

After the grand opening of IPL 2020 with a marquee clash between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings, the focus now shifts to the second game between Delhi Capitals and Kings XI Punjab in Dubai.

Both teams will be determined to end their IPL jinx and win the title for the first time.

The head-to-head record between Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Capitals is pretty intense, with Kings XI Punjab winning 14 out of the 24 encounters while Delhi Capitals have won 10.

The sides will be led by KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer, both young guns who would be looking to stake a claim for the captaincy of India in the near future.
