Woman found dead in a Delhi flat

The body of Samali Sarkar, working with a private firm in Okhla, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in her third floor DDA flats in Kalkaji last night.

A 32-year-old woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances in her rented accommodation in south-east Delhi, police said today.

The body of Samali Sarkar, working with a private firm in Okhla, was found in her third floor DDA flats in Kalkaji last night. Police broke open the room after her landlord informed them about foul smell emanating from it.

Sarkar, who hailed from West Bengal, was found lying in the bathroom. She was staying in the flat alone for the past 10 months.

The flat was found locked from inside and police suspect that the death was caused due to an accidental fall.

"It appears that it was an accident. But we are not leaving anything. We are investigating all angles," a senior police official said.

The landlord told police that she was spotted last on Friday.

A case has been registered and her family has been informed, the official said.
