Uttarakhand sanctions Rs11 crore for cultural affairs

In a bid to propagate and preserve the rich cultural heritage of the state, Uttarakhand government today released a sum of Rs11 crore for the ministry of cultural affairs.

In the past four years, the Uttarakhand government has released a total sum of Rs45 crore towards the cultural activities in the state, cultural affairs minister Vijaya Barthwal said.

The government has pledged its full support and co-operation towards encouraging cultural activities in the state through several schemes and policies, she added.

Barthwal mentioned that a multifaceted Himalayan Museum will soon come up in Rishikesh. Further, she said that she has
also issued directives to officials for proper maintenance of all the temples in the state.

Uttarakhand, often referred to as the land of fairs and festivals, witnesses a plethora of vibrant cultural activities like Uttarayani Fair, Jauljibi And Thal Fairs, Nanda Devi Fair and many others throughout the year.
