Two more Maoists, who were allegedly involved in the kidnapping and beheading of police inspector Francis Induwar, were today arrested in the Mosanga forests of Khunti district, a police officer said.

Santosh Munda alias Mithun, the self-styled zonal commander of Bundu/Adki/Tamar areas, and Dipu Lohra were arrested after several hours of raids by the district police and the CRPF in the forests under Adki police station, the superintendent of police, Manoj Kaushik, told newsmen here.

A gun, seven can bombs buried at a place in the forest, and other explosive materials, Rs50,000 cash and naxal literature were recovered after the arrest of the two Maoists.

A week ago, the police had caught another naxalite in Ranchi district in connection with Induwar's killing. All the three are 'closed associates' of kingpin Kundan Pahan, who the police believe the masterminded the grisly beheading of the special branch officer in October last year.

Mithun and Dipu, the SP alleged, were also behind the looting ICICI's transit van worth over Rs1 crore and gold near Bundu and wanted in the killing of JDU MLA Ramesh Singh Munda a couple of years ago.

In a separate incident near Bundu in Ranchi district, the security forces and the Maoists exchanged gunfire late last night with the police claiming to have shot at some extremists.
