Two suspected Hizbul Mujahideen militants were arrested today by security forces from Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district, police said.
The duo was arrested during a joint search operation at Tantraypora, Rahpora, Asthanpora and Hajampora Mohalla localities in Palhalan area of Pattan, 30km from Srinagar, they said.
The arrested have been identified as Hilal Ahmad Rather of Palhalan and Showkat Ahmad Mir of Sumbal in nearby Bandipora district.
The search operation was conducted by police and 29 Rashtriya Rifles, they said, adding one pistol, one magazine, five rounds and two hand grenades were seized from them.
A case under the Arms Act has been registered against Rather and Mir, who were both locally trained militants, they added.
