Pranab Mukherjee will give away India Pride awards on Sep 13

Finance minister Pranab Mukherjee will be giving away the India Pride awards for public sector enterprises at a function on September 13 in New Delhi.

The awards, instituted by the Dainik Bhaskar Group and supported by DNA, are intended to recognise excellence in various spheres of public sector performance.

The other guests of honour include Planning Commission deputy chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia, minister of state for coal Sriprakash Jaiswal, and various chief executives of public sector units.

The awards were decided on September 3 by a special jury headed by Planning Commission member Narendra Jadhav.
Instituted in 2009, the India Pride awards this year drew nearly 50 entries from central public sector enterprises and 24 from states.

Among the participants were blue chip companies like Gas Authority of India Ltd, ONGC, Steel Authority of India Ltd, Bhel, State Bank of India, Indian Oil, Indraprastha Gas, and the Delhi Metro Corporation.

The winners will be announced on September 13.
