Police lathi charge Sikh activists in Punjab

The police today resorted to cane charge when activists of some Sikh organisations tried to prevent followers of Dera Sachcha Sauda from performing Nam Charcha (rituals) at village Thikriwala.

The police today resorted to cane charge when activists of some Sikh organisations tried to prevent followers of Dera Sachcha Sauda from performing Nam Charcha (rituals) at village Thikriwala.

The situation took an ugly turn when some miscreants pelted stones.

The police arrested 8 activists of Sikh organisations. 

Dera Sachcha Sauda head Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh has
incurred the wrath of the Sikh clergy over his alleged blasphemy of a Sikh guru.

The activists were arrested for alleged use of criminal force to deter public servants from discharging his duties, wrongfully restraining a person, obstructing public servants from discharge of his duties, unlawful assembly and arms act.
