New Delhi: Prime minister Manmohan Singh today condoled the death of former bureaucrat Gopi Arora describing him as a brilliant civil servant who served the country with great distinction.

"In his long and distinguished public career, he held many important positions and excelled in each of them. Gopi's powerful intellect was matched with equal measure by kindness and generosity of spirit," Singh said in a condolence message to his wife.

Arora's career will continue to inspire public servants, he added.
