Scores of over-enthusiastic people today thronged the newly-built Noida City Centre Metro station this evening and moved onto the tracks, raising questions on security of the new age transport system in the satellite city.
Excited at seeing the Metro train entering their town, the locals, cutting across age groups, came to the City Centre station complex and jumped onto the tracks, taking the security personnel at the station by surprise. The security personnel, who were hired by DMRC to man the stations, came and asked the people on the tracks to come off.
"People were curious as Metro services were not functioning today. They came near the Metro station and tracks but were dispersed off immediately. CISF personnel who man metro stations in Delhi will guard the stations in Noida too," a DMRC official said.
The incident came hours after Union urban development minister S Jaipal Reddy expressed the hope that there will be no security concerns on Noida corridor as CISF personnel will guard the Metro facilities in Noida too.
