Kanpur doctor commits suicide after being harassed by wife, in-laws

Depressed over constant harassment from his wife and in-laws, a doctor today allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling of his bedroom in Harsh Nagar area in Kanpur, police said.

Sidharth Kumar was reportedly disturbed over his relations with his wife Renu and in-laws, they said.

A suicide note was recovered from the spot in which the doctor has raised questions over the character of his wife and blamed her and his in-laws for the extreme step, circle officer Niharika Sharma said.

A case has been registered against the wife of the deceased and her family under section 306 (abetment to suicide) of the IPC, Sharma said.
