Gujarat begins VGGIS ’11 promotion drive

The countdown for the 5th Vibrant Gujarat Global Investor Summit (VGGIS) 2011 is yet to begin, but the state government, which wants to promote it as 'Davos in action', has already begun preparations to promote the event.

Nine groups of delegates consisting of state's top bureaucrats and business leaders will visit USA, UK, Japan, Singapore, Srilanka, South Korea, Australia and various Middle Eastern and African Countries, during July 15 to August 15.

Highly placed sources in the state industry department said that, "The road show and marketing drive in various foreign countries will begin from July 15 to August 15. So far, the names of some of the top bureaucrats have been cleared.

D Jagatheesa Pandiyan principal secretary (PS), Energy and Petrochemicals and MM Srivastava, PS Finance will go to USA. B K Sinha, ACS Port & Transport & Urban Development, B B Swain, Industries Commissioner will be visiting Srilanka. The names of various other senior officers are yet to be finalised.

Associations such as CII, FICCI, GCCI etc., and other leading corporate leaders like Gautam Adani (Adani Group), Parimal Nathvani (Reliance Industries), Sudhir Mehta, Torrent Group, Nitin Sandesara (Sterling Group) and others group's final nod for their choice of countries will be cleared in next few days. These business leaders will help the group of delegates in dealing with companies in various foreign nations.''
