To understand the trade practices of countries in the eastern part of our globe, Gujarat Technological University (GTU) is urging its MBA programme students to take up case studies of nations in Asia and Africa.

GTU VC, Dr Akshai Aggarwal said, "There has been enough study and reference material prepared by students, professors and others on US and UK markets. Now it is important to study other nations.  India has been developing business ties with countries in the eastern hemisphere and I feel that students must focus on them." He added that Asian and African countries have a lot in store which is yet to be completely explored.

Special officer in-charge for this project, Hiren Thaker said, "Like  last year, this year too we sent circulars and presentations to GTU's 116 college coordinators asking them to send in student entries for this international project. We were happy to find that besides professors, students too were looking at studying business models of the East."

Since Monday, Thaker has received nearly 15 choices of countries. Besides US and UK, students intend to visit Tanzania, Zambia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, Germany, France, China, Brazil, Russia, Australia
and Canada.

"We will continue to urge students to focus on the East rather than the West. Once selected, they will be travelling in groups of six. Once the nations are finalised we will contact the respective embassies to help students once they land in the foreign country.   NRGs will also be asked to help," Thaker elaborated.

The growing business modules, trade practices along with culture and festivals of the nations are the important aspects according to Dr Aggarwal. Students will make presentations on these aspects once they return. All this reference material will be available for the public.
