Fresh protests rocked North Kashmir this evening with the recovery of the body of a youth missing since July 28, while three stone pelting youths were injured here as security forces opened fire on protestors defying curfew in the interior city.

"The body of a youth has been picked up at Puthkhah-Sopore from a stream this evening", a police spokesman said.

The body has been taken away by the people and the police is yet to establish the identity of the deceased, he said.

However, locals identified the youth as Syed Fark Bukhari, a stuident, who had gone missing last month after he was allegedly picked up by security forces at Chooru in Sopore town.

Residents of Kreeri town of Baramulla district from where the youth belonged blocked Srinagar-Baramulla highway to protest the alleged "custodial killing".

Fark's father Syed Bashir Bukhari, an Imam at the local mosque, alleged that his son had been subjected to forced disappearance by the uniformed men after some protesters were arrested near Chooru on July 28.

As Kreeri witnessed violent protests over the alleged custodial disappearance of the youth, authorities last week formed a special investigation team to look into the case and seek the whereabouts of the missing boy.

"A case will be registered under the RPC and an investigation will be conducted in a transparent manner so that the cause of this murder is revealed," the spokesman said.

"Instructions have been issued to the concerned police to have a postmortem conducted by a board of doctors in presence of a magistrate," he said.

Meanwhile, three youths were injured as security forces opened fire on protestors in Nowhatta in interior Srinagar this evening.

While leaving the area this evening after enforcing curfew in the city, a group of youth pelted stones on the securitymen who opened fire injuring three youths, official sources said.

One of the three was identified as Alam Khursheed and were rushed to Soura medical institute for treatment, the sources said.
