Freedom fighter, Uma Devi died in her residence here last night. She was 91.
She was suffering from old age ailments, her daughter said. Uma Devi's husband predeceased her.
Uma Devi participated in the 'Quit India' movement and was jailed in 1942 in her early twenties. An active member of the Congress, she continued her fight against the British Raj till Independence.
She was again arrested during emergency in 1975 as she raised protest against it under the banner of the Janata Party.
