Delhi Lt governor Tejinder Khanna today ordered a magisterial inquiry into the escape of three Pakistani terrorists from police custody while being escorted to a city hospital.

"The magisterial probe will examine all the aspects of the incident, including the lapses on the parts of the authorities," a top official said.

The inquiry will be conducted by the deputy commissioner (revenue) of the Northwest Delhi district, D Yadav.

The three terrorists — Abdul Razzak, Mohammed Sadiq and Rafaqat Ali — were arrested in connection with blasts near the Red Fort nine years ago, and were to be deported to Pakistan as they had completed their jail term.

The trio escaped on Friday when they were being taken to the Guru Nanak Eye Hospital by Meghalaya police personnel, who were on deputation to the Delhi police's special branch.

A reward of Rs50,000 was announced by Delhi police today for anyone providing information about the three terrorists and their pictures were also released for identification.

Home ministry officials said an alert has been sounded in Delhi and adjoining areas to nab them.
