Accusing the Delhi government of failing to keep its promises, state BJP today demanded convening of a special assembly session to discuss a plethora of issues faced by the people in the capital.

Leader of the opposition in the assembly V K Malhotra said the government has failed on various fronts, including completion of Commonwealth Games projects, withdrawal of subsidy on water and electricity and law and order problem.

"These need to be discussed threadbare in the House. Besides, all the development works in the unauthorized colonies have been stopped and the residents are forced to live in hell-like condition by not regularising the colonies and restoring civic amenities," he said in a statement.

Malhotra has already written a letter to chief minister Sheila Dikshit as well as Delhi assembly speaker Yoganand Shastri to convene the special session without any further
delay.

Regarding the delay in the infrastructural projects related to the Commonwealth Games 2010, the BJP leader said only 40 per cent of the work has been completed in spite of the fact that only 367 days are left.

"Shortage of essential food items, sky rocketing prices and collapse of Public Distribution System is leading to black marketing. Tragic death of students due to stampede in the Khajuri Khas School is another vital issue where the government must answer," Malhotra added.
