Decomposed body found in Hyderabad; suspected to be of Mumbai professor

Professor Kamble, who came to Hyderabad on December 13 to take part in a seminar at an Scientific Institute in Saifabad here suddenly went missing the next day.

A highly decomposed body of an unidentified middle-aged man was found in the Hussain Sagar lake here today, police said.

Police suspect that the body is of one professor Arun Kamble, (Marathi head of department at University of Mumbai), who went missing in Hyderabad on December 14, but could not confirm the same adding further investigations were on.

Ramgopalpet police said the highly decomposed body was spotted on the lake bank by some locals this afternoon who alerted them.     

Investigations are under progress to identify the deceased and ascertain the cause of the death, a senior police officer told PTI.

"As of now we cannot confirm that it is the body of Arun Kamble. An autopsy would be conducted on the body tomorrow which could throw more light," the police officer said adding they have also informed the professor's son about the incident.

Professor Kamble, who came to Hyderabad on December 13 to take part in a seminar at an Scientific Institute in Saifabad here suddenly went missing the next day, after which his colleagues filed a missing complaint with Saifabad police.

"They came from Mumbai and stayed at a hotel in Saifabad. Some of his colleagues filed a complaint that Arun Kamble has gone missing. We are still investigating the matter," another police officer told PTI.
