A 55-year-old finance manager of a liquor company and his wife allegedly committed suicide in north-west Delhi apparently due to financial problems, police said today.
The incident was reported from Ashok Vihar and the victims have been identified as Arvind Mathur, who worked as a finance manager in Jagjeey industry, and his wife Rekha Mathur, 52.
"They slashed their wrists. Their daughter found them lying in a pool of blood. She rushed them to hospital with the help of neighbours but were declared brought dead," a senior police official said.
A knife and an unidentified solution was found in their bedroom.
No suicide note has been found but police suspect that it could be a case of financial problems.
Family members claimed Mathur had been under tremendous pressure as he had suffered huge financial losses.
The couple's daughter Nidhi is employed with a leading private bank as an assistant manager while their son Samarth is a BSc student of Hansraj College.
