Congress MLA arrested for carrying cartridges at airport

Chhattisgarh Congress MLA TS Singhdeo was today arrested for allegedly carrying 10 live cartridges in his baggage at Raja Bhoj Airport.

Singhdeo, an MLA from Ambikapur, was to board a Jet Airways flight to Raipur when during a security check, the CISF personnel found 10 cartridges in his bag and informed the police, Gandhinagar Police Station House Officer Anurag Pandey said.

The MLA, who was booked under Section 25 (to carry prohibited arms) and 30 (contravention of Arms Act) of Arms Act, was produced before magistrate RP Sonkar who gave him bail against a security of Rs 10,000 and bonds for an equal amount, police said.

The lawmaker was carrying cartridges of .270 rifle "belonging to one of his relatives", they said.
