New Delhi: Debashish Bhattacharya has been appointed as the nodal officer to monitor and check the spread of dengue fever in Delhi.

The decision was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by Delhi's health minister Kiran Walia to review the measures taken to control dengue, an official statement said here.

Bhattacharya's appointment to the post comes after the Delhi government dropped former nodal officer Charan Singh for allegedly "creating lot of confusion in the minds of people about the disease", it said.

It has been made mandatory for all the public and private hospitals to inform/furnish details of the cases of dengue to the nodal officer, the statement quoted Walia as saying.
