As many as 20 aircrafts including couple of choppers descended on the city's airport beginning from Tuesday. The airport authorities recorded 40 arrivals and departures which is said to be a sort of record.

"Such arrivals and departures come under non-scheduled aircrafts category. Normally, we have only four to five such arrivals and departure everyday. But for the last two days it has gone up to 20," said an airport official.

So does the swarm of aircrafts bring in the moolah for the Airport Authority of India?

Officials say the earning is at best meager. According to them the levy on landing and parking is as cheap as parking a four wheeler in the airport's parking lot.

It is to be noted that aircraft landing and parking charges at present have many conditions. And it varies from aircraft to aircraft depending on it weight and flying distance among others.

"The charges are meager for non-commercial flight movements compared to commercial or regular flight movements. We have also been instructed that smaller or non-scheduled flight movements be encouraged as it is mostly done for business purposes," said a senior airport official.
