14 more die of cold in Uttar Pradesh, toll reaches 428

Four people died in Deoria followed by two deaths each in Kushinagar and Gonda, and one each in Kaushambi, Shrawasti, Kanpur dehat, Siddhartnagar, Firozabad and Mahrajganj districts.

Fourteen more people died in the past 24 hours of intense cold which continued to sweep across Uttar Pradesh.
   
Four people died in cold related incidents in Deoria followed by two deaths each in Kushinagar and Gonda, and one each in Kaushambi, Shrawasti, Kanpur dehat, Siddhartnagar, Firozabad and Mahrajganj districts of the state, taking the toll this winter to 428, reports said.
   
Churk in Mirzapur district, which recorded a minimum temperature of 3.2 degree Celsius was the coldest place in the state, followed by Varanasi, where mercury level dipped to 5.2 degree Celsius, Allahabad was 6.2 degree Celsius and Kanpur 7.1, Met officials here said.
   
The maximum temperature in Allahabd was 11.7 degree Celsius, 12 degrees below normal, Gorakhpur and Bahraich recorded 12.2 and 12.4 degrees which was 11 degrees below normal and Lucknow recorded a maximum of 16.8 which was six degrees below normal, they said.
   
The cold situation was likely to continue in the coming days, they said adding that fog would also prevail.
