All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Rahul Gandhi during his third leg of tour in poll-bound Karnataka delivered a speech and interacted with students at the Maharani’s Arts College of Women.

The staff and students of the Maharani's Arts College for Women were elated as Rahul Gandhi visited their college and delivered a speech.

According to M Channabasavegowda, the principal of the arts college, 400 students from his college and 300 students each from the science and commerce colleges attended the event.

"A total of 1,000 students witnessed the speech by Gandhi on Rajarishi Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar Vedike. The registered students were provided a pass by the Police for entry into the venue," he said.

A S Shwetha, a student of the science college, who has registered for the event, said, she is very happy to be part of the event. "All said and done, he is a celebrity. He is an heir to one of the major political parties. It is a lifetime opportunity for me to see Gandhi," she said

Another student requested Rahul Gandhi to pose for a selfie during the event in the college.

Rahul Gandhi during his motivational speech to the students of the college continued his tirade against demonetization and the Goods and Services Tax (GST) while saying that both did massive damage to Indian economy and job creation.

“I think demonetization was a mistake and should not have been done. Demonetisation and GST were massive damage to the Indian economy and job creation. I have a problem with the way demonetisation was carried out, RBI governor, Chief Economic Advisor, Finance Minister, none of them knew of it. When I called Chidambaram, he called demonetisation insane,” Rahul said while interacting with the students at Maharani's Arts College for Women in Mysuru.

Reacting on the multi-thousand-crore Punjab National Bank (PNB) fraud case, the Congress leader said, “Nirav Modi took Rs 22,000 crore of bank money. Can you imagine how many businesses could have been built by young women like you if we had given Rs 22,000 crore to you?”

Rahul further said, “We are growing pretty decently as an economy but we are not creating jobs, it is because those who have skills don't have access to finance and support. The problem is, huge amount of money goes to 15-20 people.”

Earlier in the day, the Congress chief, along with Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, visited Chamundeshwari Temple in Mysuru.
