Newly-elected Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief ministers urged the citizens of Delhi on Saturday to vote in favour of the lotus when assembly elections are held so that Prime Minister Narendra Modi can accomplish the development goals of the nation.

"The Centre has helped a lot in developing Mumbai. Prime Minister Modi has started the politics of trust and development in the country. I want to ask the people in Delhi if they want progress or not. If they do, then they should vote for the BJP as Prime Minister Modi will take them ahead on the development path," said Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das said the BJP was the only party where even a labourer could become chief minister.

"Jharkhand will reach new heights under the leadership of Narendra Modi. I am grateful to all of you that you elected a labourer as the chief minister of Jharkhand. BJP is the only party where even a common labourer can be elected to govern a state. I would like to appeal to the people of Delhi to make the party win if they want development," said Das.

Haryana Chief Minister M L Khattar said, "This is the first time that the BJP has won by a majority in Jharkhand, and Haryana is finally moving towards the path of development. The development of Delhi is not possible without Haryana and Haryana's progress is not possible without Delhi. We are moving forward with each other's support."

Earlier, Khattar, Fadnavis and Raghubar Das were felicitated at the Ramlila Maidan.

Prime Minister Modi kick started the BJP's campaign for the upcoming Delhi polls at an "Abhinandan" rally at the Ramlila Ground.

Top party leaders, including BJP president Amit Shah, national general (organisation) Ram Lal, union ministers Arun Jaitely, M.Venkaiah Naidu and Piyush Goyal and the seven party Members of Parliament from Delhi were present at the event.

The Prime Minister is being projected as the face of the BJP's campaign in the national capital.

The BJP is hoping to return to power in Delhi after 16 years.

BJP has reportedly made arrangements for around 60,000 people at the venue, even as it has claimed that over one lakh people will be attending the rally.
