Uttarakhand labour department has resolved issues affecting companies, including Nestle, HP, Britannia, ITC, and has taken steps for payment of minimum wages and ensuring social security.

The Labour Department found amicable solutions to unrest in companies such as Nestle India, Britannia Industries and HP India among others leading to agreements between management and workers in the State Industrial Development Corporation of Uttarakhand Ltd (SIDCUL) Pantnagar, Uttarakhand Minister of Labour Harish Chandra Durgapal said in a reply to a question by Hira Singh Bisht in the state assembly.

Solutions were also found to labour unrest in ITC and in another company in SIDCUL Haridwar, he added. "Hero MotoCorp had suspended 38 workers in Haridwar out of which 23 have been taken back after the intervention of the Labour Department. The case of remaining workers is with the Uttarakhand High Court. Though dharna is going on there but talks are still on," Durgapal said.

In SIDCUL Pantnagar, it was found that nine institutions were not paying minimum wages after inspections. Cases have been filed against the six of these while three have started paying the wages, he added.
