The BJP National President Amit Shah, who was on a day visit to Lucknow on Wednesday, held one on one meetings with the Chief Minister Yogi Aditayanath, leaders of coalition partners and senior party state functionaries to attend their grievances and iron out differences.

From the Airport, Shah straight away went to the CM’s Residence and went to garland the statue of Jyotiba Phule, the Dalit social reformer, at Samta Mualak Chowk in Gomtinagar. It was perhaps the first visit by any BJP leader at the memorial erected by the BSP Supemo Mayawati. The maiden visit by Shah and Chief Minister was aimed at assuaging Dalits who are on warpath following Supreme Court order diluting SC/ST Act.

Later, in marathon Seven- hour-long meetings at CM’s residence and later at BJP State Headquarters, Shah is learnt to have asked the Chief Minister and his Cabinet colleagues to keep a close coordination with the coalition partners and party state leaders to make Mission 2019 successful.

During the meeting with the Chief Minister, Shah asked Yogi Adityanath to hold regular meetings with party state leaders, workers and coalition partners to give a message that there is no gap between the governance and party.

He also directed party state functionaries to bridge the gap and take the government’s achievements to the people of the state and ensure benefits of state and central government schemes reach to the masses at the village level.

A senior party leader brought to the notice of Shah that a few bureaucrats owing allegiance of SP and BSP were creating differences within the government and the party by ignoring orders. He had put forward a few names also with a suggestion to shift them to insignificant posts.

The disgruntled Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) President and Cabinet minister Om Prakash Rajbhar and representatives of Apna Dal also met the party national president.  They raised the issue of government not giving any importance to its coalition partners and issues pertaining to development in their areas.  They also pointed about growing cases of atrocities against Dalits and most backward.

Shah is learnt to have taken up the issue of involvement of BJP MLA in Unnao rape and murder and grievances of party Dalit MPs who had recently shot off letters to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the Chief Minister who assured to address their problems proactively.

While Shah was holding meetings to iron out differences, a party spokesperson Deepti Bhardwaj tweeted:  “Amit Shah ji, pl save Uttar Pradesh as decisions of the state government was bringing disrepute (to the party).” The tweet against the Yogi Adityanath’s government inaction in Unnao case caused a flutter in the party rank and files.

Significantly, Shah has asked the Chief Minister to constitute a coordination committee and hold its meeting every fortnight to address grievances of party workers and coalition partners. Shah has also approved the Chief Minister's idea of fixing quota within quota for most backward Dalits and MBCs. Shah also promised to meet Chief Minister, his Cabinet colleagues and party state leaders twice a month to discuss issues and find their solutions.
