A Standard IX youngster in Thanjavur district took to his Facebook page to post derogatory comments about women of a particular community. This led to a clash between two communities at Tiruchendur on Sunday reports The New Indian Express.
The daily reports that on Saturday, Saravanan posted some comments that were derogatory about women of a particular community. There were around 29 people who added comments on this post and five people also shared it.
Apparently, when the elderly people of the community he had written against found out, their community leader Velayudham filed a complaint with the Tiruchendur Temple Police. A case was registered under Sec 67 (A) of Information Technology Act. Police reportedly warned Saravanan about his behaviour.
The report adds that more than 10 youngsters from the other community happened to be angry with Saravanan's post. They got together in front of Saravanan’s house and started to verbally abuse him. They even threw stones at his house.
Then Saravanan’s mother Valli went and filed a complaint. A case was registered against the 10 people and a youngster called Raja (23) from Tiruchendur, who is allegedly the leader of the gang, was arrested.
When people got to know about the youth throwing stones at Saravanan's house, people from his community went and threw stones against the other community. In this clash, a vehicle owned by Veera Manthirakumar was damaged and he filed a police complaint too. Three people were arrested based on this.
