Sushma Swaraj meets counterparts from seven nations on sidelines of UNGA

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj had bilateral meetings with her counterparts from seven nations, including the United Kingdom, Sudan, Maldives and Greece, on the sidelines of the 69th UNGA in New York.

Swaraj met UK Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond, Sudanese Foreign Minister Ali Ahmed Karti, Maldives Foreign Minister Dunya Maumoon, Norwegian Foreign Minister Borge Brende, Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Abdyldaev Erlan Bekeshovich, Greece Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Evangelos Venizelos and Nigerian Foreign Minister Aminu Wali.

All her interlocutors conveyed their congratulations to the new Government of India for the tremendous victory in the recently held general elections in India.

The External Affairs Minister thanked them for their sentiments, and invited them to participate in the ambitious projects and proposals unveiled by the new Government in India, especially through their investments in the Indian economy.

They discussed topical issues before the United Nations during the ongoing 69th Session of the General Assembly. There was strong support expressed during these meetings for India's permanent membership in a reformed UN Security Council.
