Demand for setting up a Joint Parliamentary Committee to go into the corporate espionage case involving Petroleum, Power, Coal and Defence Ministries was made by a Congress member in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.

Raising the issue during zero hour, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said that the shocking revelations in the media about the case makes one wonder whether the presentation of the Union Budget this time would be a legitimate affair or not.

Reports had it that some leaked papers found in the case were claimed to be part of the Budget documents.

Questioning the "deafening silence" of the government over the issue, he alleged that the revelations were an "eloquent testimony of the skeletons of misgovernance tumbling out". He said that only a Joint Parliamentary Committee will be able to bring out the truth.
