RGV or Ram Gopal Varma is a maverick director who always seems to be caught in some controversy or the other. When actress Amy Jackson, who is working with the Superstar in director Shankar's 2.0, posted a picture of herself with Rajinikanth, RGV's response angered fans. This is because Varma started posting tweets about Rajinikanth and all the qualities he supposedly lacked.

RGV stated that Rajinikanth didn't have the looks, charm or skills to be a Superstar and wondered how he had become one.

However, Superstar Rajinikanth has staunch fans all over the world and RGV's comments have not gone down well with them. There was retaliation by Rajini fans on social media and RGV was forced to give an explanation for his tweets. He finally tweeted that Rajini fans did not really get what he meant.

Meanwhile, Captain Vijayakanth also took on Rajinikanth while on his campaign trail. The DMDK chief made disparaging remarks against the actor and the actor's fans burnt an effigy of Vijayakanth. Vijayakanth reportedly stated that unlike Rajinikanth, he was not scared of political threats. He went on to say that when Anubumani Ramadoss was the Union Health Minister, he had asked him to remove a song from his film but he did not agree. But when Ramadoss asked Rajinikanth not to smoke in his films, he said the Superstar had agreed.

These attacks on the Superstar have not been appreciated by his fans in Tamil Nadu.
