Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi will visit the Kedarnath shrine in Uttarakhand on April 24, accompanied by senior party leader Ambika Soni and state Chief Minister Harish Rawat.

As per reports, the Congress vice-president will reach Dehradun on Thursday morning and then fly to Gaurikund, eventually trekking around 21 kilometres to reach Kedarnath.

Rahul, who has been aggressively pitching for farmers' rights and net neutrality in the Parliament, had been on a 57-day sabbatical from the political scene.

His whereabouts were a matter of much speculation and it is still not known where he spent his holidays.

The Congress Party had, however, defended his absence and said that the 44-year-old leader wanted time off for introspection after a series of electoral drubbings.

Upon his return, Rahul not only held a mega farmers' rally in the national capital but also made two aggressive speeches in three days in the 16th Lok Sabha.
