After almost four years, the main accused in the controversial Park Street gangrape case, Kader Khan was arrested from Delhi on Thursday night. Besides Khan, the police arrested another person, Ali, who was accompanying Khan while he was hiding in Delhi.

The two will be produced before a local court and will be brought to Kolkata on transit remand.

"We had specific inputs that Kader along with his close aid, Ali had put up at their relative's house in Ghaziabad. A joint team comprising Delhi Police and Kolkata Police's members arrested him. He is being brought to Kolkata and will be produced before the court here," said a senior official of Kolkata Police.

The trial of the case was over in December 2015 and Naser Khan, Ruman Khan and Sumit Bajaj were held guilty. The court sentenced them to a term of 10 years in jail. Of the 10 years, the three have already spent four years in jail.

The victim could not see justice delivered to her following her death in the same year due to meningitis.

In the intervening night of February 20, 2012, Suzette Jordan, who decided to reveal her identity after the incident, was raped in a moving car on Park Street. Later, she fought for her rights and stood next to other rape victims and survivors. She took up anti-rape campaigns and emerged as a women's rights activist.

The incident took a controversial turn when the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee termed the incident as 'sajano ghotona', meaning that the incident was staged.
