Odisha: State govt officer arrested with disproportionate assets worth Rs 1.2 crore

 An assistant project manager of Odisha State Police Housing and Welfare Corporation Ltd was arrested by vigilance sleuths for allegedly possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income, officials said today.
 

Bikram Keshari Malla was arrested yesterday after vigilance sleuths found that he was in possession of assets of over Rs 1.21 crore, which is 302 per cent of his total known sources of income, they said.

The Odisha State Police Housing and Welfare Corporation Ltd is a state government undertaking.
 

Malla's three storied house at Lingaraj Vihar in Bhubaneswar, a double storied building in Rayagada, house at native village Malikeswarpur in Kendrapara district, office chamber here and a rented house of a relative here were searched simultaneously on March 31, 2017, the sources said.

In course of the search Malla was found in possession of disproportionate assets to the tune of Rs 1,21,54,887, which is 302 per cent more than his known sources of income.

A case was registered against Malla for possession of huge disproportionate assets which he could not account for and was arrested yesterday.

He was produced before the court of the vigilance judge here who remanded him to judicial custody till May 4.
