The move is aimed at streamling the crowd at Taj Mahal
Updated : Apr 01, 2018, 12:37 PM IST
Starting today i.e. April 1, tickets brought at the Taj Mahal will have a time limit of three hours after the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) decided to impose the ruling to streamline the crowd at the world heritage site, The Times of India reported.
According to the report, anyone overstepping the time limit will have to buy another ticket. Entry tickets cost Rs 40 for Indian tourists and Rs 1,000 for foreigners.
Those booking tickets will also be allotted a time slot and if tourists don’t arrive at the expected time, then they won’t be allowed entry and will have to buy a new ticket.
However, the ASI has said that the new rule will take some time to get used to, which is why staff initially has been asked to go easy on tourists if they exceed the allotted time limit of three hours, the report added.
In order to maintain a proper headcount of visitors, zero-value tickets will also be introduced for children below 15 years of age.
