Speculations about India’s most wanted criminal Dawood Ibrahim's health swirled thick and fast on Friday night, with unconfirmed reports that the fugitive Mumbai underworld don has died. However, Mumbai police has refused to give any credence to the reports doing the rounds.

Speaking to DNA, senior police officers from Mumbai police department said that they have no information about Ibrahim suffering from a heart attack. The police officers tracking the Mumbai underworld denied reports on Ibrahim's ill health in Karachi.

Earlier on Friday night, a CNN-News18 report said Ibrahim had suffered a massive heart attack and is in a critical condition at Aga Khan Hospital in Karachi. A Times of India report also said that they have spoken to Ibrahim's close aide Chota Shakeel, who had downplayed the rumours. "Listening to my voice, do you think any such thing has happened? These are all rumours. Bhai is fit and fine," he reportedly told the daily.

Ibrahim has been reportedly suffering from multiple ailments for a long time now. There have also been reports that he has crippling gangrene in his legs and has also had a stroke in the past. Ibrahim is said to be receiving treatment for gangrene at his residence in the upscale Clifton neighbourhood of Karachi, and is also known to have been frequently visiting the Karachi hospital for medical rehabilitation.

However, Hindustan Times citing sources has reported that Ibrahim is neither in hospital, nor critical. They have added that he was last seen at former Pakistan cricketer Javed Miandad’s party at  on April 19. Ibrahim's daughter Mahrukh married Miandad's son Junaid in 2005.

Ibrahim is accused of plotting the 1993 Bombay serial blasts, in which 257 people were killed. He is also accused of masterminding many other terror attacks in India and faces multiple charges of money-laundering and extortion in several countries.

Earlier this year, a media report claimed that Rs 15000 crore worth of property owned by Ibrahim was seized in the UAE on the basis of a dossier provided by the Indian government.
