Kumar, along with his cabinet colleagues and senior officials, visited Matiyaw, the expanded site of the reservoir, an official release said here.
Water Resources Department gave a detailed power-point presentation about the reservoir before the Chief Minister.
In his presentation, Water Resources Department's Principal Secretary Arun Kumar Singh said that the expansion site of the proposed reservoir is situated 80 km upstream from Indrapuri barrage.
At the site, Kadwan in Jharkhand is situated on the right side of the river Sone whereas Matiyaw is located on the its left side, the release said.
The total catchment area of the proposed Indrapuri reservoir is 55,636 sq km, Singh said and added that a 395 MW capacity hydro electric power plant would also be set up here.
Besides, a total of 8.74 lakh hectares of land would be irrigated from the reservoir, the Principal Secretary said.
The Chief Minister said that aspects of rehabilitation of those who would be affected by the reservoir project must be incorporated in the project itself, the release said.
After the review meeting, Kumar inspected the reservoir area and carried out an aerial survey of the site.
He also inspected Durgawati reservoir located at Badalgarh in Rohtas district, it said.
The CM inspected the functioning of Durgawati reservoir and discussed with officials on how to take optimum level of irrigation facilities from the reservoir.
Energy Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Water Resources minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh and senior officials accompanied Kumar during the visit.
