Mumbai hero prevents 18-year-old from committing suicide twice in one night

Mumbaikar Syed Nasser Hussain is a hero. Last week, he saved a woman's life - not once but twice on the same night, Mumbai Mirror reported Saturday.

According to the report, Hussain had prevented an 18-year-old girl from jumping into Thane creek from Vashi bridge. It took six hours of counselling, but Hussain eventually succeeded in convincing the girl from committing the drastic act.

He then dropped her home to nearby Mankhurd, but felt that he had left her to fend by herself (her parents were out) too soon after she had tried ending her life.

He was exhausted, but that didn't prevent Hussain from riding back to the home. He, however, found the door locked from inside. On breaking in, Hussain saw that the girl had hanged herself. He immediately rushed her to hospital, where her condition is said to be stable and out of danger.

This isn't the first time Hussain has saved a girl. Two years ago, Hussain, who operates a plumbing material store in Vashi, had seen a girl walking barefoot on the railings of Vashi bridge. He immediately alerted the cops, who prevented her from jumping into the creek.

This time, too, the pattern was similar. The girl was barefoot and Hussain realised something was amiss. As he saw her climb the bridge, he dropped his bike and managed to grab her before she jumped in.

He then conselled the girl, only to realise that she wanted to commit suicide after she found out that her boyfriend had cheated on her.

Since the incident, Hussain has visited the girl twice and even had long discussions with her father, telling him that he must support her while she completes her education.
