When he visited the BJP headquarters for the first time after taking over as Prime Minister in 2014, Narendra Modi had emphasised on continuous coordination between the party and government.

A little over two years later, he has a hectic schedule of a series of party meetings lined up. On Saturday, after a day long session of BJP chief ministers at the Maharashtra Sadan in the Capital, Modi is scheduled to address them.

The exercise was aimed at a two-way communication between the leadership and states as the BJP underlines that its objective was good governance, development and reaching out to the poor, a party leader said.

The BJP leadership has been asking its members to create awareness about the Modi government's welfare schemes among people. On the other hand, the states can also convey their concerns to the party during the interactions, sources said. The meeting with chief ministers is a continuation of the process which began with a conclave of the party's state core groups earlier this week, where the Prime Minister had spent nearly two hours.

On August 31, Modi is expected to address Rajya Sabha MPs. The meeting is likely to lay out a roadmap for the upper house MPs, who unlike the Lok Sabha members do not cater to any specific constituency.

The coordination meetings to narrow the gap between government and party will begin with an address by party chief Amit Shah. Both Modi and Shah have laid emphasis on consolidating the organisation as a foundation to strengthen the government. With Modi at the helm in government and the reins of the BJP in Shah's hands, the two have been working in sync.

Modi is expected to have a meeting with officials in the Prime Minister's Office on August 29, a day before he goes to Gujarat, where he will address a public rally at Dhrol in Jamnagar district on completion of the first phase of the Rs 12,166 crore Saurashtra Narmada Avatarana Irrigation Yojna.
