Kolkata: School student sexually harassed at gunpoint by home tutor, arrested

Another girl has now complained against the teacher.

A class 9 student was sexually harassed at gunpoint by her home tutor in Kolkata. After the girl's family lodged a formal complaint, the accused teacher Rajeev Chakraborty has been nabbed by Kolkata police. The victim's medical examination has been done and her statement has been recorded.

The complaint was lodged in Bansdroni police station under POCSO act as the girl is underage. According to police, Chakraborty has been teaching the girl for the last few years. She used to go to his house for tuition classes. According to the complaint, the teacher regularly sexually harassed her after showing his firearms. When the matter came out in open, Chakraborty even threatened to kill the victim.

Rajeev was arrested from Netaji Nagar area in South Kolkata where he used to run his coaching centre at him home. Earlier too there were allegations of sexual harassment against him but somehow he had escaped the law. The girl studies in a reputed English medium school in Kolkata and couldn't initially tell her parents about this shocking incident as she was afraid for her life. She had stopped going to the coaching centre on the pretext of being ill.

But Chakraborty, who by then was completely desperate even went to the victim's house to demand explanation for her absence. Finally, the girl broke down and narrated her horror experience to her parents.

Police is trying to probe if the teacher had any accomplice in his nefarious act. Already another girl has lodged complaint against the teacher.Police are also trying to track other past victims.
