J&K: 14-hour-long encounter ends in Tral, two terrorists and one policeman killed

A 14-hour-long encounter between security forces and terrorists in Tral region of Jammu and Kashmir came to an end on Sunday morning, with the death of two militants and one policeman in Hafoo Nazneepora area.

J&K police constable Manzoor Ahmed was killed fighting terrorists, and three security personnel including an Army Major were injured.

Officials sources have said that special forces have been deployed to carry out combing operation in the area.

An incident of weapon being snatched from a CRPF jawan had emerged on Saturday. The Army had launched a cordon and search in Tral at around 6:30 PM on the basis of information of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in Srinagar. A body of a Pakistani militant was recovered on Saturday.

Sources further stated that a terrorist named Aqib of Hina village was reportedly holed-up along with two more terrorists. The area was sealed and security forces had zeroed in on the house where terrorists are holed up. 

Curfew was clamped in this area, 10 km from here, as protesters had gathered near the encounter site, they said.
