While volunteers of National Youth Corps (NYC) are already sitting on indefinite hunger strike with their demands in Pratap Park at Lal Chowk, Sri Nagar for last one month, another group of people have called a fast unto death in the city since Mufti Mohammed Sayeed-led BJP-PDP government has taken over.

Started on Friday, this dharna is being organised under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir Casual and Daily wagers Forum where more than 100 temporary staffs have gathered to express their anger over the negligence shown by the government. These staffs have alleged that during the election campaign they were assured that nature of their employment will be changed to permanent, if the new government is elected.

Protesters also claim that this is an issue that concerns 62,000 temporary staff members of different government departments who have been working for years.

The reason behind the indefinite hunger strike of NYC volunteers is that they were promised recruitment on several positions in J&K's education department but despite the cabinet's order on the same, it is yet to be implemented.
