BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra on Saturday alleged that the Dalit leader and candidate from Vadgam seat Jignesh Mevani was funded by anti-national political front. Patra was talking to mediapersons at BJP's media centre when almost half of the Gujarat was busy in casting votes during the first phase of Assembly polls.

Patra said, "Rahul Gandhi should open up on why the candidate they support, Dalit leader Jignesh Mevani, was given a cheque for an election fund by the Popular Front of India (PFI). We do not make any allegation, but the name of PFI was opened during the investigation of National Investigation Agency(NIA)."

He added, "Anti-national forces are directly supporting Congress which supported them earlier. Rahul Gandhi should clarify what kind of culture their party has been endorsing. Congress leader Salman Nizami, who shouted slogans in favour of Afzal Guru and runs a Pro-Pakistan movement in Kashmir has dragged PM Narendra Modi's father and grandfather's names into dirty politics."

Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani told mediapersons, "Congress is creating a ruckus in the name of dysfunctional EVMs because they have been looking at a great defeat in Gujarat polls. BJP will win with more than 150 votes."
