A one- and-a half-year-old female leopard that fell in a well while hunting was rescued from a village in Nashik district on Thursday night.

“After attacking a dog pup and trying to escape with it the leopard might have not spotted the well and could have fallen in it,” said a forest official adding that the forest team came equipped with a crane and a cage for the rescue at Shingave village.

“The cage was lowered with the help of crane in the well. However the scared leopard was reluctant to get into the cage. It was only after several attempts that went on for few hours the leopard entered the cage and was safely pulled out around 11.15 pm on Thursday night,” said Forester A P Kale adding that the feline will be released in the wild.
