The next generation of well-known political families in the city acknowledges the fact that their political lineage is an advantage for them if they venture into politics. The advantage, however, is limited to the entry level only as they believe it will be their individual merit alone that can help them live up to the expectations of electorate.

"Although I belong to a political family, I am not a parachute entrant.  I might get a chance once due to my political background, but I will not be able to survive if I fail to prove my mettle," said Sachin Yadav, son of late Congress leader Subhash Yadav while participating in a talk show organised by Indore Press Club on Saturday.

"I have worked in the field and understand problems and expectations of people. I want to establish my separate identity like my father who belonged to a farmer family," added Yadav.
Abhishek Bhargav, son of state minister Gopal Bhargav, too acknowledged that political lineage was an advantage for him. "However, people have high expectations from political heirs. They expect us to deliver more than our predecessors." He added, "We have to face double challenge--- one from the rivals and second to prove ourselves better than our parents."

Vikrant Bhuria, son of Congress leader Kantilal Bhuria, said that he had attained credibility and face value due to his father but "establishing our individual identity is a challenge".  "An object in order to get out of earth's atmosphere needs an escape velocity. Similarly, we have to work exceptionally to get recognition beyond our family," said Vikrant, a doctor by profession. For Mandar Mahajan, son of MP Sumitra Mahajan, opting for a career in politics was never a compulsion. "I have joined politics as a social service. I believe in constructive politics and even if I remain in the opposition, I will not hesitate to support the government on an issue of public interest," said he. A pilot by profession, Mandar says he is ready to work for party or fight election if party tell him so as he believes that politics in not a profession.
