A day after reports did the rounds of Congress MP Shashi Tharoor helping in drafting a resolution to be adopted by both the houses of Parliament in condemning the death sentence given to Kulbhushan Jadhav, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said the reports are false and mischievously planted in the media.

Swaraj has denied that she asked the former under-secretary general at the United Nations to help with drafting a resolution on the matter.

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Swaraj said, "The news was completely false and mischievously planted in the media."

She made the remarks replying to the following tweet:

Earlier on Tuesday, while responding to an article by a leading English channel, Sushma tweeted, "There is no dearth of talent in my ministry. I have the assistance of very able Secretaries."

On Monday, Pakistan sentenced Kulbhushan Jadhav to death for carrying out espionage and sabotage activities in Balochistan and Karachi, the military's media wing Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.

According to ISPR, Jadhav alias Hussein Mubarak Patel was arrested on March 3, 2016 from Mashkel area of Balochistan for his "involvement in espionage and sabotage actives" in Pakistan's restive Balochistan province and Karachi city.

In response, Swaraj had said in Parliament, "Under these circumstances, we have no choice but to regard the sentence, if carried out, as an act of pre-meditated murder." She had added that the sentence by the Pakistani Military Court was based on "concocted charges."
