Chennai: Executive editor of spiritual magazine 'Deepam' and wife found hanging

The executive editor of ‘Deepam’ and his wife were found hanging in their house on Monday night. A report in The Hindu states police suspects it to be suicide.

Srinivasa Raghavan, 50, and wife Janaki, 43, were not seen on Tuesday and the neighbours informed the ‘Kalki’ magazine office. The office had also been trying to reach the editor. When some employees went to his house, they found the couple hanging in different rooms adds the report.

A police officer has stated to the publication that the couple took the extreme step probably because they were unable to pay the EMI for a property they had bought. They had sent their son, who is in the seventh standard, to Pudukottai to a relative’s house.

‘Deepam’ is a spiritual magazine published by the ‘Kalki’ group. The Royala Nagar police have registered a case and is investigating adds the report.
