A week after he was body shamed by renowned columnist Shobhaa De, Madhya Pradesh cop Daulatram Jogewat arrived in Mumbai for medical check-up on Sunday.

Last week, poking fun at the police arrangements during Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) polls, Shobhaa De had tweeted "Heavy police bandobast in Mumbai today," with an image in which she incorrectly identified Jogewat as a personnel of the Mumbai Police.

Daulatram Jogewat, who weighs around 180 kg is an inspector with the Madhya Pradesh police. He said that a "wrong" tweet by Shobhaa De had changed his life.

"The MP police was planning to take care of his treatment, but we were swarmed by offers from hospitals across the country. We got offers from VLCC, a clinic in Indore and bariatric surgeon Dr Mufazzal Lakdawala, among several others," District superintendent of police Manoj Singh told Times of India.

Earlier, Jogewat had said, "I am hurt with Shobhaa De's tweet poking fun at me. I have put on weight due to hormonal disorder following my gall bladder operation in 1993."

Speaking to Mumbai Mirror, Singh said, "A team representing Dr Lakdawala had approached us saying they would like to help Inspector Jogawat lose weight. We readily agreed. While the doctors will undoubtedly do their best, the Madhya Pradesh Police will extend all possible help to the inspector through our police medical scheme."
