BJP demands CBI probe into alleged corruption, fund misuse in Arunachal Pradesh

The BJP in Arunachal Pradesh has demanded a CBI probe into the alleged corruption and misuse of fund sanctioned for construction of Halaipani hydro power project in remote Anjaw district of the state.

The party in a memorandum to Anjaw deputy commissioner yesterday alleged that the expenditure of the hydel project, which began with an initial sanction of Rs 57 crore in 1998, has gone up to Rs 157 crore till 2013, party sources said here today. “Despite investment of such huge amount, the project is yet to see the light of the day even after more than a decade,” the party said.

The party also demanded a high level inquiry into the alleged misuse of fund meant for construction of Manchal motorable suspension bridge over Lohit River by a special investigation committee.

Other demands of the party included, immediate handing over of Hayuliang-Goiliang and Goiliang-Glotonglat road to BRTF, cancellation of privatization of PDS, early completion of Kasopani, Tha-Pani, Mai-pani and Hatipani micro hydel projects, posting regular medical staff and supply of life saving drugs and necessary medical equipment in the district hospital, primary health centers and sub centers, the sources said.

It also demanded proper implementation of total sanitation campaign (Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan) in the district, immediate de-reservation of Walong-Kibitho and high level inquiry into various alleged misuse of fund and illegal appointment and corruption in Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), the sources added.
