Handpump water turns Bihar family bald, authorities take notice

A family from Bihar's Madhubani district has alleged that all its members have turned bald after taking a bath from the handpump's water outside their residence, reports CNN-IBN.

Mohammad Hasim, a villager, has claimed that his wife and two children complained of itching around the head after taking a bath from water of the handpump which is located outside their house. Later, all the family members reportedly started losing their hair, which ultimately led to baldness, he said.

The villagers have said that the water from the handpump was used for a long time, but no such incident ever took place.

The handpump has now been sealed. A doctor was called to check on the family and the water from the handpump has been sent for testing. Local officials have visited the family.

The Block Development Officer has directed the village head to install a new handpump for the family.
