Two days after Uri attack, Army kills 10 infiltrators on LoC, jawan martyred

The infiltration bid was foiled just hours after Pakistan violated ceasefire and fired at the Indian posts using small and automatic weapons for around 20 minutes.

Indian army killed at least 10 infiltrators on Tuesday when they foiled two major infiltration bids on the LoC in Uri and Naugam sectors of North Kashmir, even as the Pakistani army violated the ceasefire by indiscriminately firing on the Indian posts in Uri sector. An army soldier was also killed in the gunfight with infiltrators in Naugam sector.

Colonel SD Goswami, defence spokesman at Northern Command Headquarters, said Indian troops intercepted a group of terrorists near the LoC and foiled an infiltration bid in the Uri sector. "Another infiltration bid was foiled in Naugam sector. Operations are in progress," he said.

The infiltration bid was foiled just hours after Pakistan violated ceasefire and fired at the Indian posts using small and automatic weapons for around 20 minutes.

"Ten to 12 militants terrorists attempted to infiltrate in Uri sector. They were intercepted and the infiltration bid was foiled and operations are on," Colonel Rajesh Kalia, defence spokesman at Srinagar told dna.

Later in the evening, the troops noticed suspicious movement of militants along the LoC in Naugam sector. Army immediately swung into action and launched the operation. Militants opened fire on the troops in which one soldier was killed. "Infiltration bid has been foiled in Naugam sector. One soldier has been martyred. Operations are continuing," said Col Kalia.
